American Jews Respond to the Holocaust
By November 24th of 1942, when the U.S. and Britain publicly confirmed that mass murders of Jews were taking place, many of Europe's Jews were already dead. In this February, 1943 letter, Undersecretary of State Sumner Wells assured Rabbi Wise that Riegner's communications would continue to be forwarded to Wise via diplomatic pouch.
