"Buy American, Boycott Jews"
Antisemitic Poster
In the 1930s, an American-Nazi movement attempted to gain support for Hitler among Americans through a group called the "German American Bund." Fritz Julius Kahn (1896-1951) was their leader, with the self-proclaimed title of "American Fuhrer." The Bund never became a substantial political threat, however, and upon the outbreak of World War II, the government placed a large number of Bund members in internment camps and then deported them out of the country after the war.
