Community Shows Strong Support for Jews facing Antisemitism
Nazi Graffiti on Jewish Homes in Kansas
In 1960, the community of Augusta, Kansas showed their support for the Jewish residents of the town. Three boys spray painted swastikas on the homes and businesses of prominent local Jewish families. This one-time act angered many of the residents. They supported the Jewish community in its fight against antisemitism and the police quickly responded to the unlawful acts. The boys were caught and sentenced without the victims having to press charges themselves.
