Nathan Henry Beckman
Affordable care for all
Nathan Henry Beckman (1860-1940) was a Cincinnati clothing manufacturer and philanthropist. In 1909, he donated money in memory of his parents, Wilhelm and Gette, to establish what became known as the Beckman Dispensary. It offered outpatient medical and dental care for the Jewish sick and those too poor to afford other care. It operated independently until 1940, when it moved to the campus of the Jewish Hospital.
